For homeowners who want something cleaner, stronger, and less expected.

Most people begin their kitchen search assuming they will choose wood cabinets. It is familiar, common, and often presented as the default.

But many homeowners choose metal for reasons that go beyond style alone. From termite resistance and dimensional stability to easier cleaning and a more elevated finish, metal offers advantages wood simply does not.

Termite Resistance

For clients who have dealt with termite damage before, metal removes that concern.

Greater Consistency to Temperature Fluxuations

Wood moves with humidity—expanding, contracting, and sometimes warping over time. Metal remains far more stable, with minimal, uniform movement that doesn’t affect door alignment or finish.

Easier to Clean

Powder-coated metal surfaces wipe down easily and suit real everyday use.

Cleaner Material Choice

Some clients prefer avoiding the glues, fillers, and off-gassing concerns often associated with certain wood-based products.

Distinctive Design

Metal offers a crisp, architectural look that feels more elevated and less expected than standard shaker or traditional cabinetry.

Durable Finish

Powder coating provides a refined, resilient finish available in a wide range of colors.

What our clients say:

"We already dealt with termites once. Never again."

"I didn't want my kitchen to look like everyone else's."

"We wanted something easier to clean and more durable over time."

"The powder-coated finish felt elevated in a way painted wood didn't."

FAQS

FAQS

  • Metal cabinetry doesn’t have to mean an all-metal kitchen, but it can. This depends on you.

Many of our projects combine powder-coated metal doors with warm wood elements—creating a balance between precision and warmth. The result feels architectural and refined, not cold or industrial.

For some clients, the decision to use metal doors is also practical.

Compared to traditional wood door styles with seams, joints, or panel construction, metal doors offer a smooth, continuous surface that is easier to wipe clean and maintain over time.

“We liked the idea of combining materials. The metal gave us a cleaner, more durable surface, while the wood kept the space feeling warm.”

  • No. Many homeowners choose them because they are easy to wipe clean. There aren't any special soaps or waxes to use. Just a soft cloth and some gentle all purpose cleaner will do the trick!

  • For some, it is about durability and stability. For others, it is about getting a finish and look that wood cannot replicate.

  • Metal cabinets are not the lowest-cost option—and they’re not meant to be. Most clients choose them for long-term durability, cleaner materials, and a design that stands apart from standard cabinetry.

But the comparison depends on what level of wood cabinetry you’re considering.

Basic or stock cabinets will definitely come in lower, but when compared to custom or high-end wood cabinetry, the gap narrows significantly. Many clients choose metal for its durability, longevity, and distinct design, not just upfront cost.

“We weren’t looking for the cheapest option—we wanted something that would last and feel different.”

  • Not when they’re designed properly.

Metal cabinets can feel warm, refined, and highly architectural—especially when paired with wood, stone, or softer materials. The finish, color, and proportions make all the difference.

Many clients are surprised by how livable and balanced their final space feels.

  • Metal is durable, but like any material, it’s not indestructible. Our 18-guage steel doors are very strong and stand up to every day use very well.

Powder-coated finishes are highly resilient and hold up well to everyday use too. Compared to painted wood, they are often more resistant to wear, chipping, and staining.

Normal use won’t damage them—but like anything, sharp impacts can leave a mark.

  • Metal cabinets are not noisy when they’re properly constructed.

Unlike older steel cabinets from the mid-century era—which were often thin and hollow—modern metal cabinetry uses layered or “sandwich” construction that increases rigidity and gives the door a more substantial, furniture-like feel. We like to say they are "Cadillac" heavy.

This results in a more solid, substantial feel—a high-end cabinetry, not the lightweight metal people often expect.

Combined with premium hardware like soft-close hinges and drawer systems, the overall experience is quiet, controlled, and refined.

“They don’t sound hollow at all. They feel solid—more like a piece of furniture than what I expected from metal.”

  • Yes—very much so.

While metal has roots in commercial environments, today’s designs are fully residential, design-forward, and custom-oriented.

Most clients are drawn to metal specifically because it feels different from standard residential cabinetry, not because it feels commercial.

  • Our signature approach combines a wood cabinet structure with metal doors, creating a balance between warmth and precision.

The wood grounds the space. The metal elevates it.

Together, they create a contrast that feels intentional, refined, and visually striking—not something you see in every kitchen.

  • No—many clients find them easier.

    Metal cabinet surfaces are:

    • smooth

    • non-porous

    • easy to wipe clean

They don’t require special care and are well-suited to everyday use.

  • Not in normal interior conditions.

High-quality metal cabinets use galvanized steel and powder-coated finishes, which protect against corrosion.

In a properly designed kitchen environment, rust is not a concern.

  • They can—especially in design-forward or higher-end homes.

Metal cabinets create a distinctive, architectural look that sets a kitchen apart from more standard installations.

For the right buyer, that differentiation adds real value.

  • This depends on how you define it.

    Metal is:

    • recyclable

    • long-lasting

    • not dependent on engineered wood products

Some clients choose metal because they prefer avoiding composite materials and adhesives commonly used in cabinetry. Which are absolutely bad for the environment and your body.

  • They are built for long-term use.

Metal cabinets are not subject to:

    • the same wear patterns as painted wood

    • moisture-related movement

    • finish breakdown in the same way

For many clients, this is a long-term investment decision.
